Spring Niche Series
The Soul of Shaabi: "Agibni Kullak" with Carlos Carmona (MX)
In this special online event, unique Raqs Sharki (bellydance) teachers from around the world come together to support women and families affected by the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.
While dancing together in the RAQSoul Spring Niche Series we honor the roots of this art form, supporting the work of the Women’s Humanitarian Organization (PWHO), helping displaced women and communities rebuild safety and hope.
The teachers’ team features a selection of wonderful and unique artists of the community, niche voices with fresh inspiration, strong roots, and so much to share.
Carlos Carmona is a Mexican performing artist, choreographer, and educator whose work is a living reflection of the cultural polyphony that flows through his veins. His work—both on stage and in the classroom—springs from a deep connection to his roots: a melting pot that integrates Indigenous, Spanish, and Arabic heritage. This cultural intersection imbues his dance with a unique sensitivity, viewing art as a constant dialogue of reimagined traditions.
Join Carlos Carmona in a journey to the heart of Cairo’s streets. In this workshop, we will explore the charisma and raw power of the Shaabi style through the iconic song "Agibni Kullak." Beyond the steps, we will focus on genuine interpretation, playfulness, and adding your own soul to the song! You will learn to master body weight, spatial awareness, and the emotional connection necessary to dance with freedom and honesty. Prepare to stop just dancing and start telling a story.
Free for members, 40 EUR for guests.
With our workshop series, we are supporting humanitarian relief efforts in Lebanon through PWHO by donating 10€ for every workshop participant, whether you join as a guest or through your RAQSoul membership.
If you’d like to extend your support even further, you can make an additional voluntary contribution on raqsoul.com/membership.
